Our Workshops

Understanding Autism: Affirming Perspectives for Inclusive Therapy

Join us for a neuro-affirming workshop designed to deepen your understanding of autism and equip you with inclusive, strengths-based approaches for therapy.

Moving beyond outdated deficit models, this session explores autistic-led theories, including Monotropism and the Double Empathy Problem, while debunking common myths about autism.

Discover the impact of masking, burnout, and sensory processing differences, and learn practical adaptations to create a safe, accommodating, and empowering therapeutic space. This workshop emphasises identity-first language, respectful symbolism, and real-world strategies to support autistic clients effectively.

This workshop has been designed and will be delivered by Nick, a neurodivergent therapist and lead tutor for the Accredited Diploma in Counselling.

Who is this for? Counsellors, therapists, and mental health professionals seeking to adopt inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming practices.

Why attend? Gain practical skills, deeper insight, and a fresh perspective to enhance your work with autistic clients.

Takeaway: Build a therapy practice that respects, supports, and empowers autistic individuals.

Anarchism & Psychotherapy: Reimagining Therapeutic Praxis

Join us for an exploratory and interactive workshop curiously examining the intersection of anarchist thought and psychotherapy. Anarchism is the belief that people can organize themselves without rulers or hierarchies. Instead of governments, bosses, or oppressive systems, anarchists believe in cooperation, mutual aid, and voluntary associations where decisions are made collectively. The goal is a society based on freedom, equality, and solidarity, without coercion or domination. In short: No rulers, no masters; just people working together freely and fairly. The workshop has been designed to spark discussion and challenge assumptions and invites counsellors and therapists to rethink the structural, philosophical, and theoretical foundations of their practice.

A blend of information sharing, collaborative dialogue and guided reflection, we will cross-examine core anarchist principles such as autonomy, decentralisation, and mutual aid, against dominant assumptions in psychotherapy, including its views on the human condition, ethics, and relational power. This is an opportunity to critically examine authority in therapy, question traditional frameworks, and explore new ways of fostering collaborative and non-hierarchical relationships with clients and peers.

Who is this for? Counsellors, therapists, and trainees curious about rethinking power, ethics, and authority within the context of therapy.

Why attend? Engage in critical discussion, challenge taken-for-granted assumptions, and explore alternative ways of conceptualizing mental health and care.

Takeaway: Gain new philosophical insights and expand your perspective on therapy as a site of collaboration, autonomy, and resistance.

Applied Phenomenology: Cultivating Openness, Presence, and Meaning

In therapy, phenomenology helps us focus on how a person experiences their world, rather than diagnosing or explaining their emotions from the outside.

Join us for a workshop designed to help counsellors explore how phenomenology can deepen their work with clients. Drawing on the insights of contemporary thinkers, this session will introduce simple but powerful ways to listen differently, see beyond assumptions, and engage more fully with clients’ experiences.

Through discussion, case study and guided reflection, we’ll explore key principles of phenomenology; learning how to step back from judgment, focus on what is actually being said, and create space for deeper conversations that don’t rush to fix or label. A bedrock of humaistic practice, this workshop is about exploring new ways of being with clients, making room for their unique perspectives, and helping them feel truly heard.

Who is this for? Counsellors, therapists, and trainees looking to get to grips with the bedrock of humanistic practice.

Why attend? Learn how to listen more deeply, stay open to new insights, and reinforce your non-pathologising, humanistic position.

Takeaway: Walk away with practical tools to make your therapy sessions more present, open, and client-led.

Taking the Fear Out of Theory: A Practical & Interactive Workshop for Therapists and Trainees

Does talking about theory make you feel lost, overwhelmed, or like you’re ‘not academic enough’?

Do you struggle with integrating different approaches or explaining your theoretical stance?

This engaging and interactive workshop is designed to take the fear and pressure out of theory by exploring it in a practical, non-shaming, discussion-based way.

Rather than treating theory as an absolute, we’ll break it down into real-world applications, critqique it and position you and your client as central to the process. The workshop draws on your own personal way of working and aims in building language around what is already present.

What to Expect:

✔ A stress-free approach to understanding and using theory in practice

✔ A chance to ‘rummage through the box’ of different models and see what fits

✔ Zero pressure to ‘get it right’ – this is about discovery and community learning

✔ Real client scenarios explored through different theoretical lenses

✔ Tools to help you explain your approach with confidence in supervision, CPD, or marketing

Who is this for?

  • Counsellors, therapists, and trainees who feel uncertain about theory or integration
  • Those who struggle with choosing, applying, or articulating different approaches
  • Practitioners who want to develop a more flexible, confident relationship with theory

Why Attend?

  • Find freedom in how you think about and use theory.
  • Feel confident talking about your approach in professional settings.
  • Make theory work for you, rather than feeling restricted by it.
  • Led by a senior accredited therapist and experienced counselling lecturer
