Hello, my name is João (Jo), and I am an Integrative Therapist. Whether you’re facing a challenging situation, wanting to explore your past experiences, or feeling stuck and seeking a change, I am here to support you. I have experience helping people with mental health crises, current and childhood trauma, relationships, boundaries, and working with the LGBTQIA+ community on topics such as self-acceptance, discrimination, transitioning and consensual non-monogamy.

I work online and offer sessions in English and Portuguese.

I have worked with adults and young people, suffering from a range of difficulties, including depression, anxiety, loss, low confidence/self-esteem, relationship issues, addiction, illness, separation/ divorce, trauma. I qualified with a Diploma in Humanistic (Person Centred) Counselling in 2013 and I am an Accredited Registered member of the BACP. I work mainly in a Person-Centred approach, providing core conditions such as empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence. I see counselling as a way to give hope, gain the ability to let go of the pains of the past and find new ways of healing.

My love for nature, the outdoors and animals also influences the ways I can adapt to work with individual client needs.
