Zena Cooper

Process Group Lead for the Adv. Diploma in Counselling

Having worked in the Health and Social care sector since the late 1990’s, Zena found her passion within the mental health service she worked in for 11 years.

Zena’s counselling journey initially began in 2005 and after an extended break to focus on different opportunities she returned to training in 2017. One of those opportunities was Reading for Wellbeing, a project set up by Zena to provide therapeutic and accessible reading groups to adults and young people. Facilitating groups is something Zena is particularly interested in and finds each groups unique dynamics and ways of communicating fascinating and a never-ending learning curve. This reignited Zena’s desire to be a counsellor, she trained with a local provider and took on placements with a local charitable counselling service and the NHS Renal Unit.

After qualifying Zena set up a private practice in Folkestone and continues to challenge herself to learn and develop her practice integrating Existential, Psychodynamic and Narrative ways of working.

Zena holds a qualification in therapeutic group facilitation.
